What is Xperience?
Xperience lets you build your own Nuvio (or Stremio) catalog add-on. You choose the rows for your home screen, like Trending, your favourite genres, your own Trakt lists, even AI picks, and you can tidy them into folders. When you’re done, Xperience gives you a private link to paste into Nuvio.
Your rows aren’t frozen lists. Every time you open Nuvio it pulls fresh titles from Xperience, so everything stays up to date on its own.

How is it different from AIOMetadata?
AIOMetadata is powerful, but hands-on. You build catalogs from raw filters yourself. Xperience does the curating for you and adds a visual builder on top, so you spend less time configuring and more time watching.
| AIOMetadata | Xperience | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Type config options into the addon page yourself. | A guided 4-step visual wizard. |
| Catalogs | You assemble catalogs from TMDB filters by hand. | 364 ready-made catalogs across genres, studios, anime, awards and more, already tuned for you. |
| Organisation | A flat list of catalogs. | Group rows into themed Collections and folders with cover art (in Nuvio). |
| Personalisation | Manual lists. | Link Trakt / Simkl / AniList / TMDB for your own lists, plus optional Gemini AI “for you” rows, AI search and AI-built catalogs. |
| Extras | Metadata only. | A built-in avatar gallery and a Nuvio stream-badge studio. |
| Profiles | One configuration. | As many named profiles as you like, for different moods or people. |
| Install | Copy the manifest URL. | Copy the URL, scan a QR code, or push to Nuvio in one click. |
They can work together
Words to know

Profiles & dashboard
Everything starts on the Profiles page. A profile is one complete setup — rows, collections, keys and install link — and you can keep as many as you like, for different people or moods.
- New profile
- Name it and start from scratch or from a preset. The wizard opens on Step 1.
- Duplicate
- Copy an existing profile, then tweak the copy. Handy for making a kids’ version of your own setup.
- Import config
- Already have a setup elsewhere? Paste a Stremio manifest URL (AIOMetadata works too) or a Nuvio collections.json and Xperience turns it into a profile.
- Manage
- Open a profile to edit it in the wizard, rename it, or delete it. Each profile has its own private install link.
The setup wizard
The wizard has four steps. Steps 1 and 2 are all you need to get going. Steps 3 and 4 add organisation and install options.
The live preview
As you build, the Live preview panel shows your home screen the way Nuvio will render it, updating as you make changes. Use the TV / Mobile toggle to switch between the television and phone layouts. On smaller screens, tap “Open preview” to bring it up.
Step 1: Setup
Name the profile (this shows in your add-on manager), connect your data providers, and set how content is filtered. You can’t continue until both required keys are verified.
- MDBList API keyRequired
- Powers the lists of titles in your catalogs. Free at mdblist.com/preferences. Hit Verify to confirm it works.
- TMDB API keyRequired
- Provides posters, descriptions and ratings. Get it at themoviedb.org/settings/api.
Use the right TMDB key
Connect a tracker (optional)
Public rows like trending and popular work without connecting anything.
- TraktOptional
- Adds your Favorites, Watchlist and Collection rows plus any custom Trakt lists, and unlocks “Hide content I’ve already watched”.
- SimklOptional
- Adds your “Plan to Watch” row and feeds your watch history into AI recommendations.
- AniListOptional
- Adds your AniList anime lists (Watching, Plan to Watch, Completed) as rows.
- TMDB accountOptional
- Connect once to add your TMDB Watchlist, Favorites and Rated titles, plus any lists you’ve made on TMDB, as home rows. Needs your TMDB API key first.
AI features (optional)
Add a Gemini API key (free at aistudio.google.com) to unlock the AI features: the “AI Movies for you” and “AI Series for you” rows built from your Trakt history and MDBList lists, AI-powered search, and custom catalogs you describe in your own words.
Privacy
AI-powered search
Flip on “Enable AI-powered search” (here or in Settings) and search starts understanding descriptions, not just titles. Type something like “movies where the villain wins” — anything 6 characters or longer — and Gemini finds matching titles. Shorter searches, or any AI hiccup, quietly fall back to the normal title search, so search never breaks.
Posters (optional)
Prefer different artwork? Swap the default TMDB posters for another provider: RPDB, Top Posters, Fanart, OMDb or BetterPosters. Drag them into the order you want. The first provider that has a poster for a title wins, and if none do, the TMDB poster is used. There’s also a “Show ratings on RPDB posters” toggle that bakes the IMDb/RT badge right into the art.
Preferences
These filters apply to every catalog and to search.
- Language
- Language of titles and descriptions in your catalogs.
- Hide adult contentDefault: on
- Hides pornographic and hentai titles everywhere. R-rated movies are not affected.
- Max rating
- Cap content at a rating such as PG-13 or R. “Any” applies no cap.
- Origin countries
- Only show titles made in the countries you pick. Leave empty for everywhere.
- Exclude countries
- Hide titles from certain countries (e.g. add Korea to hide K-dramas).
- Exclude unreleased titles
- Hide anything with no release date or a date in the future.
- Hide content I’ve watched
- Hides titles you watched on a connected tracker from discovery rows. Needs Trakt, Simkl or AniList.
- Exclude categories
- Hide whole categories such as Anime, Reality TV, Talk Shows, Kids or Documentary.
Max rating has limits
Step 2: Home rows
Choose which catalog rows appear on your home screen. Pick from hundreds of curated catalogs plus any of your own lists.
- The catalog picker
- Browse hundreds of catalogs grouped into For You, Trending & Popular, Genres, Anime, Studios, World Cinema and Collections. Trakt, Simkl, AniList, Custom and Imported sections appear once you connect or add them.
- Presets
- Apply a ready-made set of rows in one click. You’re asked first before it replaces rows you already have.
- Your rows rail
- Everything you pick lands here. Toggle a row on or off, drag to reorder, rename it, or remove it.
- Add custom list
- Paste a Trakt or MDBList list URL, or switch to the “List ID” tab to add a Trakt, MDBList or public TMDB list by its ID.
- Row options
- Each row has a small editor: rename it, and on list rows from Trakt, Simkl, AniList or MDBList, pick a Sort order — Popularity, Top rated, Newest or Oldest.
Create catalogs with AI
Want a row that doesn’t exist in the picker? Describe it in plain words and AI builds it for you. You’ll need the Gemini key from Step 1.
- Create with AI
- Opens the AI catalog dialog. On desktop the button sits next to the search bar; on mobile it’s in the three-dot menu.
- Describe it
- Type what you want, like “feel-good sports underdog stories”, pick Movies or Series, and optionally name the row. Leave the name blank and AI writes one for you.
- Preview first
- You get a preview with sample posters before anything is added. Happy? Hit “Add to home”. Not quite right? “Refine prompt” takes you back to tweak the wording.
- Edit later
- Open the row’s editor any time to change the prompt or hit Regenerate for fresh picks. AI catalogs save with your profile like any other row.
If generation fails
Step 3: Collections
Nuvio only
A collection contains folders, and each folder pulls from one or more catalog sources.
- Collections & folders
- Add a collection, then add folders inside it. Each folder holds one or more catalog sources.
- Tile shape
- Choose how a folder’s posters look: POSTER (tall), LANDSCAPE (wide) or SQUARE.
- Presets
- Load a ready-made collection layout, like “Movies by Genre”.
- Duplicate & delete
- Copy or remove any collection or folder, and drag to reorder.
Folder styling & cover art
Every folder can look the way you want. Select a folder to open its settings panel.
- Cover
- Give the folder a tile image: pick “Apply cover set…” to browse 50+ ready-made designs (Kaptain’s, Editorial, Gradient, Obsidian, Mural, streaming-logo styles and more), or use your own image URL or an emoji.
- Focus GIF
- An animated cover that plays when the folder is highlighted. Many cover sets include one; toggle it per folder.
- Hero backdrop
- The big banner image shown behind a collection when it’s open in Nuvio.
- Title logo & hide title
- Swap the folder’s text label for a logo image, or hide the title entirely so the artwork speaks for itself.
No empty folders
Arrange your home screen
The “Arrange home” button opens one list with everything on your home screen — catalog rows and collections mixed together. Drag anything to reorder it, and use the pin icon to keep a collection locked to the top. The order saves with your profile and is sent to Nuvio when you push, so every device shows the same layout.
Syncing the order to your devices
Step 4: Finalize
Generate your install link and choose how to add it to your app.
- Push to Nuvio
- If you’ve linked your Nuvio account, one click installs the add-on and your collections to a chosen Nuvio profile.
- Add to Stremio
- Get an install link with home rows only, or with collections flattened into rows.
- Manual setup
- Copy the URL, scan the QR code on the device running Nuvio, or download a collections.json file to import.
- Revoke & regenerate
- Rotate your key to kill the old link if it ever leaks. Devices on the old URL will need to reinstall.
Keep this URL private
Settings
The Settings page holds defaults that get copied into every new profile, plus your account controls. Changes autosave as you type.
- Default API keys
- Your MDBList, TMDB and Gemini keys, entered once. “Apply to all profiles” pushes them onto existing profiles too.
- Poster providers
- Set your default poster provider order and keys for new profiles.
- Profile defaults
- Default language, max rating, country filters and toggles (hide watched, hide adult, AI recommendations and AI search) for new profiles.
- Appearance & language
- Switch between dark and light theme, and change the language of the Xperience interface itself.
- Integration accounts
- Link Nuvio (to assign avatars and push collections), Trakt, Simkl, AniList and TMDB once so new profiles reuse them. PunchPlay and WeTraKr are coming soon.

Deleting your account is permanent
Avatars
A gallery of profile avatars you can use in Nuvio.
- Browse and search the gallery, and filter by category.
- Tap an avatar to copy its image URL, then in Nuvio open your profile → Edit → paste it into the Custom avatar URL field.
- If you’ve linked your Nuvio account, use Assign to set it on a Nuvio profile directly, with no copy-paste needed.
Badges
Stream badges are the little labels on a title in Nuvio, like 4K, HDR, the source, or a rating. The Badges page is where you build your own badge pack.
- Pick a set
- Start from a curated set. Xperience “Signature” sets are listed first.
- Edit badges
- Turn badges on or off, recolor them, drag to reorder, and organise them into groups.
- Live preview
- Paste a release title to see exactly which badges Nuvio would show for it.
- Advanced
- Import another pack from a URL, or paste and copy the raw JSON.
- Publish
- Publish to get a hosted badge URL. After that, your edits save automatically.
How to use it in Nuvio
FAQ & troubleshooting
- Do I have to pay?
- No, Xperience is completely free, and the required MDBList and TMDB keys are free to create too. If it’s useful to you and you’d like to support development, donations are always welcome.
- Where do I get the TMDB key?
- Go to themoviedb.org/settings/api and use the v4 “API Read Access Token”, not the v3 key.
- My posters turned grey.
- That usually means you hit RPDB’s daily request limit. It resets each day, or you can reorder or remove RPDB under poster providers.
- My catalog is empty in Nuvio.
- Check that both keys are verified on Step 1, that at least one home row is enabled, and that you installed the latest URL.
- What’s the difference between home rows and collections?
- Home rows show on your main home screen. Collections group rows into folders and only appear in Nuvio.
- Do I need a Trakt account?
- No. Trending, popular and genre rows all work without one. Connect a tracker only if you want your own lists.
- Is my install link private?
- Treat it like a password. Anyone with it can see your configuration. You can revoke and regenerate it on Step 4.
- AI search just gives normal results.
- Check three things: the “Enable AI-powered search” toggle is on, your Gemini key is verified in Step 1, and your search is at least 6 characters. When AI can’t answer, Xperience quietly falls back to the normal title search instead of showing an error.
- “Create with AI” keeps failing.
- That’s almost always the Gemini key or Google’s free quota. Verify the key on Step 1, and if you’ve generated a lot today, wait — free-tier quotas reset daily. If the model is just busy, Try again usually works after a moment.
- I reordered my home screen but my device didn’t change.
- Devices that already have your add-on keep their old order until you push to Nuvio again from Step 4, or remove and re-add the add-on. After that, the layout syncs everywhere.
- Is Xperience down?
- Check the status page at xperience-app.com/status — it shows live health for the app and the providers it depends on. If a provider is having a bad day, your catalogs may look empty until it recovers.
Xperience is free to use. If it helps you, a small donation keeps the project alive and growing.
